How to Choose a Single Bed

Today, choosing single beds can be complicated by the variety of options. However, making the right decision is not as difficult as it seems: by systematizing all the purchase criteria, you can easily choose the best option for a comfortable sleep. To choose the right single bed and buy the most suitable option, it is important to focus on just a few indicators – dimensions, materials, design and compliance with the interior.

Choosing a bed size

At first glance, it may seem that everything is more than obvious with the length and width of a single bed. However, this is far from true; today manufacturers offer furniture for one in the following sizes:

  • 70×190;
  • 80×190;
  • 90×190;
  • 70×200;
  • 80×200;
  • 90×200.

When choosing a single bed by size, you are primarily guided by your own height. So, if you are tall, look for a longer model; if you have a significant body weight, prefer a product with a maximum width. The same applies to cases when furniture is chosen for a teenager. Another point that affects the final dimensions of the furniture is the size of the bedroom. In a spacious room, you can afford a large single bed, while limited space requires a more ergonomic model.

Choosing the material for a single bed

An important criterion when buying furniture for the bedroom is the raw material from which it is made. Experts recommend paying attention to such parameters as composition, environmental friendliness and quality of material processing – only in this case can you count on sound and truly healthy sleep.

Natural solid wood

Environmentally friendly, pleasant in texture, breathable and durable material provides furniture with both an attractive, expressive design and special energy. Today, various types of wood are used for beds – from soft pine to more durable oak and beech. The only drawback of such products is their high price.

MDF

Medium-density fiberboard occupies an intermediate position between natural wood and more affordable components. The material is highly durable and does not contain toxic resins and compounds, which allows it to be used to create furniture in various styles and with a variety of design options. MDF beds are most often classified as mid-price.

Chipboard

Furniture made from particleboard is usually presented in the budget segment. Chipboard is quite durable and can last for quite a long time without deformation or damage. However, products made from it should only be purchased from trusted manufacturers to avoid the risk of purchasing toxic material.

Metal

Modern metal beds look extraordinary and often feature an elegant, contemporary design due to forged elements. Such furniture lasts for decades without losing either its attractiveness or practical properties, but only if it is of high quality.

The criteria for choosing a single bed are the same as for bedroom furniture of other sizes. It is important to understand exactly which model is suitable for the room in terms of style and dimensions, study the design features of various products and pay special attention to quality.
